The Ventura County Department of Airports would like to once again extend our gratitude to those who attended the March meetings of the Airport Advisory Commission and Airport Authorities and for the engagement related to the development projects for both the 4.1 acre site and the 1.9 acre site at Camarillo Airport. We would like to provide an update on the timeline for the next steps.
The ranking process for the proposals is currently underway and is expected to be completed at the end of May. Once the ranking process has been completed, the results will be shared with each of the entities that submitted proposals. At that point, the top ranked team for each of the sites (the 4.1 acre site and the 1.9 acre site) will be invited to an open house meeting with all stakeholders, including members of the public, on Tuesday, June 16, at 6 p.m. at the Department of Airports administrative office in Camarillo. We understand that the March meetings ran long, and this open house will be designed to provide an opportunity to share additional thoughts and answer any questions stakeholders may have. Our goal is to provide an opportunity for the developer and stakeholders to engage productively as we move forward in this process.
After the open house, the Department of Airports will share the results of its ranking/selection and the outcome of the Open House meeting with the Camarillo Airport Authority and Aviation Advisory boards during the regularly scheduled meetings for those groups in July. At that point, the Department of Airports will begin negotiations for the lease and development plans with the top ranked proposer for each site, which typically takes several months.
We appreciate your time and continued engagement in this process.
