Fire Response and Increase in Aircraft Activity

Home

Ventura County residents, particularly those near Camarillo and Oxnard airports, have likely noticed an increase in aircraft activity in the last couple of days. This is due to mutual aid from Ventura County Fire Department (VCFD) in response to the large Franklin Fire in Malibu and recent spot fires in Ventura County. VCFD officials expect 10-15 additional helicopters to be based at Camarillo Airport over the next several days as firefighting efforts continue. Neighbors can expect a continued increase in aircraft activity, including through the night. Currently, there are no expected closures at Camarillo Airport.

The Department of Airports continues to be a proud partner of VCFD and all local and regional emergency response teams and their work to maintain the health and safety of all Ventura County residents.
