RWY 8 Postcard Makes Debut as Part of Pilot Education for FFVC

The Ventura County Department of Airports continues efforts to develop pilot education materials to promote Fly Friendly VC (FFVC). As part of that work, the Department has designed a postcard to be showcased both digitally and in hard copy format focusing on Runway 8 arrivals. The postcard, which is available on the Department of Airports’ website and in hard copy format at local FBOs (Fixed Based Operators), is designed to promote arrivals on Runway 8 at Camarillo Airport whenever safely possible.

Runway 8 arrivals come in from the west and have less of a noise impact on neighboring communities. However, they are heavily dependent on weather conditions (particularly wind). This has been an element of FFVC for more than a year, and the Department of Airports has seen a steady increase in the utilization of Runway 8 arrivals, especially during nighttime operations. The Department’s goal is to continue to explore ways to promote FFVC at both Camarillo and Oxnard airports and to ensure that pilots and the tower teams at both airports have the tools necessary to make continued progress.
